Norris Tops Oscar Piastri in Sao Paulo Practice Session
The British driver has outscored Oscar Piastri at all of the past five race weekends.
Lando Norris narrowly beat team-mate and title rival the Australian for the top spot in the dying seconds of the practice session at the Brazilian Grand Prix.
The British racer, who seized the championship lead from his teammate by one point after taking the win in the Mexican Grand Prix recently, outpaced the Melbourne-born driver by 0.023 seconds.
Earlier in the session, Oscar Piastri had been the fastest McLaren driver throughout the hour before the sprint shootout scheduled for 6:30 PM GMT.
The Red Bull star, the sole remaining contender in realistic title contention, trailing 36 points Norris, ended up in P17 as his Red Bull team followed a unique setup.
His teammate the Japanese driver was the only driver to go off, if briefly, when he rotated at Turn Four during the early running.
Tsunoda lost control over the curbs on exit before rotating through the run-off area, and was blessed to escape with just a minor contact of the barrier.
The Ferrari of the seven-time champion also had a spin, at the final moments of the session, spinning around through the fast downhill Mergulho turn before the final bend on to the main straight.
Hamilton wrapped up in 19th, one place behind teammate the Monegasque driver.
The McLaren pair were well clear of the other competitors, with the German's car P3, 0.619secs behind Piastri's best.
The Aston Martin of Fernando Alonso was fourth quickest, with Sauber's Bortoleto in front of the Mercedes of Russell and the Alpine of Pierre Gasly and the Williams of Sainz.
