Nineteen of Medvedev's 21 titles have been won on hard surfaces

A comeback Medvedev secured his maiden title for 882 days with success over Frenchman Moutet in the tournament title decider.

The athlete, a former number one, has experienced a torrid period, winning just one match at the major tournaments and suffering a meltdown at the US Open.

His unpredictability on the professional circuit - and difficulties with his serve in specific - led to him dropping out of the elite rankings and eventually parting ways with long-time mentor Cervara.

Currently working with his coach and his other coach, he has steadily improved in the recent weeks - culminating in a tightly fought competitive victory over challenger Moutet.

This represents Medvedev's first championship since the Italian tournament and maiden on a hardcourt since that period of that year.

Victory also signifies the Russian has achieved twenty-one championships at 21 different events.

"This marks the first occasion I have attended a tournament with my two daughters together, so to win a title is really nice," said tennis professional Medvedev.

"This title is in dedication of my younger daughter my daughter, because the maiden victory I got when my older daughter my daughter was born was for her."

The tennis star, the 2021 US Open champion, had been defeated in his last six finals, including in that event previously this season.

The player's retrieving play style and recurring outbursts on the playing surface had prompted commentators to doubt if his skill to compete at the top level was finished.

But the 29-year-old has altered his approach in recent weeks, striving to come to the net and perform aggressively, backed up by an better serving game.

Medvedev came back from a deficit in the initial set against the difficult opponent, securing 4 of the last five games to take the lead.

Both players exchanged break points in the second set before the Frenchman, attempting for his initial professional victory, seized the initiative to push for a third set.

Moutet defended 4 early opportunities in a competitive third set before the Russian won the break to that score to serve for the match.

Appropriately, Medvedev secured the win with a shot at the net, with the Frenchman incapable to manage a volley after two hours and 38 minutes.
